Important Dubai conference
November 2009
SSI is preparing to attend the International Desalination Association's World Congress in Dubai (7-12 November).
"The theme of this Congress is to address desalination and water reuse," observed SSI director David Dwek, "and we believe that our range of modular onshore and offshore desalination solutions can make a valuable contribution to this issue.
"People are beginning to realise the true value of our flexible 3-month-to-3-year delivery models and we again anticipate considerable interest."
WWC Assembly in Marseilles
October 2009
SSI will be attending the World Water Council's ‘5th World Assembly' in Marseilles (14-16 October).
"The Assembly is essentially a follow-up to the World Water Forum in Istanbul, and we look forward to sharing our view of mid-term solutions with other members," explained David Dwek.
"Our presentations on our modular onshore desalination plant in Cyprus provoked considerable interest at Istanbul in March, and we're looking forward to continuing discussions with a number of interested parties."
Cyprus hits 5m cubic meters
September 2009
SSI is pleased to report that the cumulative volume of fresh water produced at the recently installed modular reverse osmosis onshore facility at Moni in Cyprus has passed the 5,000,000 cubic metre (5 billion litre) mark.
"We're very happy with progress," announced SSI director David Dwek, "production is up to 21,000 cubic metres (21m litres) per day, and our client is delighted with both the volume we're generating and the purity of the water."
The current contract with Cyprus' Water Development Department is due to expire in 2011, and because of the modular container-based nature of the plant, SSI will be able leave the current site totally clear.
"We expect the plant at Moni will be relocated to one of our offshore barge or vessel-based applications and be ready to restart desalination operations at another location within 6-8 months of the end of the Cyprus contract," explained Mr Dwek, "that's the real beauty of the SSI solution."
Off to Istanbul
March 2009
SSI director David Dwek is off to the World Water Council's ‘5th World Water Forum' in Istanbul (16-22 March), together with partners the World Water Council and the European Water Partnership. The forum is the largest such gathering in the world, with approximately 33,000 delegates expected to attend.
"We've been a member of the WWC since 2006 and attendance at these events is really critical in advancing new solutions to the growing issue of fresh water supply," explained David Dwek. "We look forward to participating in the various activities during the forum and extending our network of contacts. We also expect a lot of interest in our recently installed modular onshore desalination plant in Cyprus."
